Live in Hope

After half a brick

In the local slammer

I’m starting to understand religion

I’m grossly uncomfortable

With the conditions of my life

But I’m strangely happy

Because I have hope

That things will get better

When I finish my time

The opiate of the masses

Makes sense when

The promise of something better

A reward for your suffering

Is promised

And even expected

Hope numbs the pain

And you can shoulder your burden

When heaven awaits

When the pain is too much

Live in hope
