Spare a thought for the melancholy
For it once was a part of me
And looking back
It was a luxury
For to mourn love lost
Is to have loved at all
To have time for beauty
Sadness and tranquillity
Was to be young and free
Those sour chords
Those melodies
I still compose in reverie
For the times when my love was strong
And innocence where I belonged
Let the women of my dreams crash into me
And set all my emotions free
That for now lie buried
Cracked and tethered
By gradual age and necessity
And someday let me have them time
For a little sadness of the kind
That only makes life more beautiful
