They call him ‘The Kid’
Just 19
And his first time in adult jail
He says he’s learned his lesson
But with four years of juve under his belt
It’s hard to be sure
He talks about learning a trade
Or buying a franchise
And of kicking the drug habit
He hates it here
Every day like the last
And he lost his kitchen job
Still trying to save though
He’s quit smoking
Not easy to do
Surrounded by 400 heavy smokers
No support on the outside
No family to turn to
So it’s a long shot
But maybe, just maybe
He’ll surprise us all
And come good on the outside
When he gets his chance
At life after jail
