One shot give it your all.

All eyes on me
As I navigate this fair city
Latitude and longitude
I’ll navigate a path for you
If true north is what you seek
Take my hand and come with me
We will:
Unlock for you a path that’s true
Slay your demons
Heal your soul, have a breakthrough
Keep you dreaming
Unlock the light within
Let’s do it! Let’s begin!
Sleep patterns? Check
Diet? Check
Exercise? Check
Vocation? Check
We all want meaning in our lives
Want more than to just survive
So be kind to yourself
Forgive your mistakes
Knuckle down to hard work
And be truly awake
To life on this world
The only one we’ve got
And this chance to live
We get just one shot
So shoot for the starts young apprentice
Shoot for the stars my apprentice and you might just
Like it.
Love it.
Laugh at it.
And come to end with a soul on fire
Knowing you gave it your all.

I was a bit hesitant to put this one online partly because I’m not a huge fan of rhyming stuff and partly because it’s so different from my jail stuff.
I feel like if you’re going through hell or have bad mental health issues this is the one for you. I always find myself compelled to spread positive energy to my fellow man and share what I know about living well and conquering hardship both within yourself and with your surroundings.
The clichés are sometimes right on the money. Like dream big with no remorse and appreciate the journey as much as the destination. All that stuff resonates with me and finds its way into a lot of my poems.
One shot give it your all.
Good work!

Darn accidentally deleted your other comment, apologies, yeah some of the language in there was an eye opener. They’re also big on rhyming slang. Thanks again.

Oh…I’m an expert in accidentally deleting comments! 😅
I’m sure the language was surprising but all language has an underlying meaning and also a cause.
The rhyming slang is truly fascinating to many lovers of language 🙂

My lawyer told me to get “A bag of fruit”. I had no ideas what he was talking about, turns out he meant suit.

Yes it’s a separate language really. It ought to be on the school curriculum. Maybe a university degree. 🙃

I’m sure it would be possible to write a thesis on the evolution of slang.. Don’t know if the academic world is ready for habits of the criminal class. It’s a constant source of entertainment for my non criminal mates.

😅 I’m sure…
There should be and I’m sure there must be studies. But I also think it should be taught as a language. After all it has been an important part of a large section of society and has a rich cultural background to its origins.
