Through deep introspection I’ve learned to hold my nerve when the devil comes calling.

I am the iron wolf
Iron lung, iron will
In the days of madness
I lived through every thrill
The cold doesn’t bother me
I choose the rain and snow
I watched the rise and fall
Of everything I know
Burnt away in the time of ashes
I set it ablaze with redhead matches
I stalk my prey and never tire
Pumping weights ‘til I perspire
I live to serve
The life of the pack
And hold my nerve
With the devil attacks
If the world only knew
The things I’ve been through
It would open like a flower
Give me she wolves and power
But I suffer in silence
Watch the back of my eyelids
And dream of the hunt
I love to think about spirit animals as a source of strength. I try to harness the energy of the wolf to bring to challenging aspects of life. Some people love lions, some love tigers and I am slightly childish trying to figure out what animal people remind me of.
This poem, especially the part about the time of ashes is a reference to the book ‘Iron John’, a powerful book that a friend recommended.
Through deep introspection I’ve learned to hold my nerve when the devil comes calling.
Very skillfully crafted poem with strength emanating from every stanza

Thanks so much, your kind words are greatly appreciated. Do you yourself have a spirit animal?
