Today I thought I’d share with you a few thoughts on my all time favorite movie ‘The Life Aquatic’. A film from Wes Anderson full of whimsy, humor and all things nautical.
The cast is seriously impressive: Bill Murray, Cate Blanchett, Owen Wilson, Jeff Goldblum, Willem Dafoe to name a few and all deliver perfection in their roles.
The concept is loosely based around the life of the famous oceanographer Jacques Cousteau and has many references to him including the signature red beanie that the cast all wear.
Part of the charm of the film is the regular scenes where one of the crew sings acoustic versions of David Bowie songs in Portuguese and the quirky minimalist film score by Mark Mothersbaugh, one of the founding members of the band Devo.
If you’re a fan of Wes Anderson films this one of his best, I highly recommend taking the time to discover this film.
